  • Purpose:  Through a grant with the Colorado Council for the Arts (CCA) we have created and implemented an innovative science curriculum that integrates art in an effort to promote student engagement, creativity and innovation

  • Success of program so far:  Student engagement and motivation in the sciences has improved, and the pilot school has posted measurable increases in math and science proficiency scores.

  • New approach:  This program is in contrast with the standard curriculum of Denver Public Schools (DPS), which is literacy based and focuses on reading comprehension and fact memorization for science learning.

  • Expanding the program to other schools:  The blueprints for some of these lessons have already been given to interested Denver public schools through teacher cross-school training sessions. The program is currently engaged in expanding teacher training and curriculum development.

  • Present funds expiring:  Our present funding is through a 2-year grant that runs out at the end of this year.  Help us continue to lead in this educational effort.
  • Trend in government programs is with us!:  There is a public policy movement both at the State and National levels to turn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programming into STEAM by introducing ART as a driver of creativity and innovation.
  • Reaching Out to a Broader Community: We want to bring members of the Denver medical and scientific communities together to enjoy fine wine and art while supporting an arts and science integration program.
