Hello. I am Kimberly Rebholtz and I am excited to be teaching 5th grade Social Studies and Science at Polaris @ Ebert. I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Growing up, I imagined myself in a range of careers as an adult- a veterinarian, animator, physical therapist and paramedic. This range of interests was the result of my hobbies. I grew-up with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and fish. I loved taking care of them. As a child, I spent many hours in my room drawing and creating at my desk. When I wasn’t in my room drawing, you would most likely have found me on the soccer field, hiking among the redwoods of Mount Tamalpais toward Stinson Beach, or on my bike with my mom.. I loved all of these activities and that made choosing one thing to do so difficult. I tried a few careers out along the way and as a result of my experiences as a nanny, I pursued a career in education with a science emphasis. I grew very close to the young girl and boy I nannied. I loved spending time with them, taking them places, exposing them to new experiences and sharing my knowledge with them. I impacted them, they affected me, I loved it. I knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I graduated from Sonoma State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology (Botany) and Environmental Education. While in California, I taught third and fourth grade. Around the same time I began teaching, a lot of change occurred in my personal life. My husband and I started our family and my parents and siblings moved from California to New Mexico and Colorado. I have always been close with my family and I wanted my children to also be close with their relatives, so I followed them. For over a decade now, my husband, four children and I have called Colorado our home. Since moving to Colorado, I have taught fourth and fifth grade. I am grateful for every student I have been fortunate to have taught because I would not be the teacher I am today without each of those relationships. When I am not in the classroom, I love spending time with my family hiking, biking, gardening, getting bumps and bruised at the skate park and attending church.
